Fireworks in December with Rolie Polie Guacamole

Rolie Polie Guacamole probably made their own fireworks in concert this year on Independence Day! Wow, these guys are a hoot! This CD, full of the classics and recorded live, takes on its own quirky twists with Frank and Andrew. They sing fast and slow. They get loud, they whisper. They even growl like bears. You name it, they do it.

Our favorites are Row Your Boat and Upside Down. My daughter just started flipping upside down on the monkey bars at the playground. She thinks it’s pretty cool. She’s happy that Rolie Polie Guacamole thinks it’s cool too.

Lots more from Waldmania PR:

BROOKLYN, NY — Holy Guacamole!  Brooklyn’s award-winning titans of kindie music are back, bringing a taste of July to this Christmas!  Rolie Polie Guacamole is set to warm up the season for families everywhere with the December 23 release of their sixth studio album, Live on the Fourth of July.

Winner of the prestigious Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards, Rolie Polie Guacamole has, through the years, developed a smart musical style that dresses up original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers that sparkle with a kid-and-parent-friendlhy vibe.

In addition to bringing their rocking, upbeat, high-energy shows to music festivals and performing arts centers, Frank Gallo and Andrew Tuzhilin take special joy in the informality and “up close and personal” feel of the numerous sing-along preschool and library shows they perform that have a focus on familiar children’s songs.

On July 4, 2016, responding to ongoing requests from families for a recording of Rolie Polie Guacamole sing-along favorites, Frank Gallo and Andrew Tuzhilin headed to Rutherford, New Jersey to make a live acoustic album with longtime friend, engineer/producer Max Caselnova.  Celebrating an unforgettable Fourth of July, they laid down fourteen classic children’s songs that revel in a true-to-life setting with very few overdubs or added tracks.  The result:  Live on the Fourth of July!

Live on the Fourth of July speaks to younger Rolie Polie Guacamole fans with sing-along gems like “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “Mr. Sun,” and “Muffin Man/Pizza Man,” while offering older kids some of the band’s signature cover songs, such as “Fire Truck,” “Subway Train,” and “This Little Light of Mine.”

Enthuses Frank Gallo, “After years of being urged by our fans to record our sing-along set, I’m so glad we finally took the time to do it!  It was a blast to spend last Fourth of July going back to our acoustic duo roots and working with our good friend Max!  We hope to bring some of that summertime warmth to the colder months of the year with Live on the Fourth of July.”

Rolie Polie Guacamole lays claim to being one of the hardest working bands in kids’ music, and that just might be true.  They’ve released five albums and played well over 1,500 shows nationwide since hitting the boards with their first performance in 2007, receiving top picks from Boston.com, Time Out NY Kids, and Time Out Chicago.

To herald the release of Live on the Fourth of July, Rolie PolieGuacamole has launched an animated sing-along video series on YouTube, kicking off with “Mr. Sun,” illustrated by Alexandra Narvaez and animated by Teddy Gage, HERE.

Previous Rolie Polie Guacamole releases include Chips and Salsa (2015, Parents’ Choice® Recommended Award), Triathlon (2014, Parents’ Choice® Fun Stuff Award), Houses of The Moly (2012, Parents’ Choice® Silver Honor Award, NAPPA Honors Award), Time For Hummus (2010), and Rolie Polie Guacamole (2008).

Live on the Fourth of July will be available on the Rolie PolieGuacamole website and iTunes.  Pre-orders may be placed now at both sites.

Cricket Media Offers Variety and Fun!

We really felt like it was Christmas when our Cricket Media package arrived. What a collection of stories, activities, magazines, and poetry, all with such colorful and exciting illustrations! We have slowly started to make our way through all of our samples. Sometimes we have bedtime stories. Sometimes, we just browse through the magazines to see what all there is to do. My daughter, who is almost five and is starting to use inventive spelling and reading looked at the magazine with the lollipop, and made up her own title: “How do you eat a lollipop?” I loved that!

Good Advice from ‘Mom’s Journey’

Good Advice from ‘Mom’s Journey’

Mom’s Journey: Practical Tips for Raising Kids is a straightforward and honest approach from the author, Limor Friedman, whose experience with motherhood spans more than 18 years. She doesn’t use any psychological babble or scientific research you find in most parenting books. She simply speaks from experience and offers help to those who are in search of it. She doesn’t claim to be right or wrong. She allows the reader to use her take on anything from homework to bullying and then draw their own conclusion within their unique situation.

#Oasis

It makes you think.

Oasis makes you think. I received a complimentary copy of the e-version of Oasis in exchange for an honest review. I plan on buying the paperback version because I really enjoyed it and prefer to read from a book.

#Oasis

The story is unsettling and hopeful at the same time. It is a lesson in how we treat each other and the earth right now and how things might turn out if we don’t change our ways. It includes a lot of terms like “quietude” and “oneness” that, if used properly in this day and age, could actually avoid some of the unsettling things that happen in this book. All the events surround the main character, Theo, who is certainly put through the ringer. Oasis is a story of confusion and discovery…death and birth…known and unknown. I look forward to reading it again.#Oasis

Children’s Yoga Book Review

Rachel's Day in the Garden: A Kids Yoga Spring Colors BookRachel’s Day in the Garden: A Kids Yoga Spring Colors Book by Giselle Shardlow

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

‘Rachel’s Day in the Garden’ is beautiful on so many levels. The illustrations are colorful, happy, and inspiring. The use of well chosen yoga poses not only works with the story line, but inspires movement and imagination in a unique way. We especially liked the bees and butterflies, just like Sammy. I would recommend this book to anyone caring for young children. It can be narrated with guidance for the little ones or given as an independent movement and imagery study for older readers. So glad to see yoga, literature, and visual art in perfect harmony!
