Homeschool Population Continues To Grow with the Years, Why?
In years past the homeschooling movement was a small group of parents, who according to the public eye, were sheltering their children from the proper means of education. Some even went so far as to say they were neglecting their child or children. You were most likely to find a kitchen table full of kids learning middle school math on a no-sleep-disorders.com in the middle of nowhere.
Today, though, the story has changed. More and more American parents are choosing the path of home education for their family. In 1999, it was reported by USA Today that the number of homeschooling families was a mere 850,000. In 2012 this number had more than doubled to 1.77 million families, and just recently the Florida Department of Education reported the largest number of homeschooling families in history – a whopping 84,096.
The US Department of Education says that the homeschool population is growing at a rate of 15 percent per year. So why the sudden increase? Why is the homeschooling movement starting to take off?
Reasons for Homeschooling & Online Tutoring Growth
Today, homeschooling is the fastest growing form of education in the Nation. Here are some reasons why.
The number one factor driving the growth of the home education movement is curriculum. As public and private school systems have begun shifting to a Common Core curriculum many parents have become deterred by the practice of this discredited theory of education.
- No child left behind
Contrary to common belief, it is not only the disagreement of curriculum used that is driving the growth of the homeschooling movement. Parents that choose to homeschool often do so in an effort to individualize a study plan that best suits the needs of their child. Ultimately, giving the child more of a chance for success.
An increasing number of students are also turning to homeschooling for college level education too. Thanks to distance learning providers and helpful online resources such as collegepaperworld, college students are able to complete their studies in a way that suits their learning style without missing out on any help and support when completing assignments such as writing reports for example.
These are not the only factors that continue to fuel the movement, however, they are the most influential.
