Thankful Thursday

Helping Hands of Nocatee, Inc. has raised $110 for Project Storybook to buy new books for children moving into Habitat for Humanity houses in our county. That news is exciting enough! What makes it so much more thrilling is that I get to present the books to the children!

It has been years since my involvement in Habitat for Humanity. If my memory serves me, it was at least 20 years ago in Charlotte, NC and my team was in charge of hanging siding. Of course, I had no idea what to do, so my role as assistant had to suffice. This time around, my experience with children and education will put me right in my element and make me so thankful and eager to put smiles on children’s faces!

Most importantly, Project Storybook was started by a girl when she was only 13! Imagine the generosity, determination, and creativity it took for her to begin this adventure and be so successful 2 years later. Her organization is nationwide and she recruits colleges to partner with her to bring books to children. She is an amazing girl and I, for one, am thankful to know her.
