Recess Monkey is the nationally acclaimed trio of teachers who make music for kids and families that truly rocks. Seamlessly meshing their indie-rock roots with their keen awareness of childhood themes, the band continues to make waves coast to coast. “Deep Sea Diver” is the band’s ninth album, showcasing the high-energy, pitch-perfect understanding of what gets kids excited that has launched them into national awareness.
How cool is it to see a group of Dad’s playing music, having fun, and living the life of kids! Why not? We’re all kids at heart if we want to be and can share that joy with our children and many across the globe.
The Hot Air CD and DVD immediately reminded me of the Beatles. And specifically brought me back to the music and images of Across the Universe. Now, of course, my three year old would have no idea what I’m talking about, but it certainly had me hooked!
This is a perfect Father’s Day gift! Whether you are watching the DVD or listening to the CD, the whole family will smile, dance, and play the day away!

I can totally see my daughter and me hanging out and singing with these guys! This music makes us feel like we’re at a camp site, singing around the camp fire, having a good ole time! Our favorites are “Skip to My Lou” and “Jig Along Home”. Emma said, while shaking her little tush side to side, “I like this one. It makes me feel like dancing!”
This is a perfect Father’s Day gift, especially for dads who appreciate the stories told through this kind of “deep woods” music. Win a copy before it is released on June 23rd! Go to my Facebook page to enter my giveaway.
This morning, my three year old daughter said, “We are a community and we communicate.” After being blown away by her intelligence and introspection, I realized how right she was.
We are a community of moms, dads, kids, grandparents, friends, co-workers, supporters, leaders, professionals, drinking buddies, and party throwers!
We most certainly communicate quite a lot about everything from toddler tantrums to school supplies to the best place to get sushi. And more than anything, we’ve got each others’ backs.
That was very clear yesterday when I asked for prayers on our community Facebook page and received close to 50 responses right away. Some were from people I don’t even know. And many asked me how I was doing today. The prayers worked.
There’s nothing like having a large group of people in your corner. You may not know all of them well, but if you need them, there is no question. The circle will close around you.
When the circles closes around me, I know I am home.
