Happiness is your first dance recital!

The Daily Post Photo Challenge

Jubilant, adjective: showing great joy, satisfaction, or triumph; rejoicing; exultant.

You could have cut the jubilant energy in this dressing room with a knife! These little girls and boys were beside themselves with excitement, giggles, and tons of pride as they experienced their first ever dance recital. And it was certainly contagious for all of their family and friends. We hooted and hollered together in the audience and as they tapped and tip-toed like pros! The celebration lasted long into the afternoon and all weekend with lunch, ice cream, flowers, and tons of hugs, kisses, and accolades. This mama was beaming with pride!

Congratulations, Emma! Dance on, my love.

Many Feelings, One Face

Many feelings, one face, in my four year old darling. Sometimes I can catch them candidly, but in this instance, she put on a little show. There’s no doubt that I have influenced her with my own wacky expressions. And my father did it to me. We are an expressive bunch and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Love that face.

From The Daily Post:

“This week at Discover, I chatted with illustrator Mica Angela Hendricks, who blogs at Busy Mockingbird, and loved what she said about drawing faces. “The lines in your face tell stories,” she said. “I get to ‘know’ a person through these lines, which is so fun for me.”

Mica likes to draw strange, imperfect faces the most:

When you’re drawing the details of someone, you’re spending intimate time with them in a strange way. Not romantically, but as an artist, you find this wonderful appreciation for what most people consider their “imperfections” — the wrinkles and lines in their faces, the lines under their eyes.

For this week’s photo challenge, let Mica’s insights inspire you: share a photo of a face. It could be your own face; the face of a loved one, whose lines and creases you know well; or even a face out in the wild, where you least expect to see one.”

Daily Post WPC: Life Imitates Art

This photo popped into my head immediately for this WPC. At first, she wanted to have nothing to do with this huge photo, but eventually she realized it wouldn’t jump out and grab her. I love how she attempts to stretch her limbs as long as the gorilla. She’s grown so much just since then. I bet she’s getting close now!  We were at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens with one of her best friends, Max.

Daily Post Photo Challenge: Time

This collage immediately came to mind when I saw this week’s photo challenge. This is part of my collection of Soul Collage cards I made about eight years ago. This is my “death” card. My interpretation was probably much different eight years ago than it is now, so I won’t really bother. What is your take?
