Pinkie Pie from 3DLight FX Lights Her Up

Can you tell by these photos that my daughter was excited to receive her Pinkie Pie 3DLight FX? She certainly was. And she squealed with even more delight when her daddy hung it on her wall. It looks awesome and matches her bedroom decor perfectly! We turn it on when she is ready to go to sleep and it turns off automatically after she is well on her way to dream land.

More from 3DLightFX:

“As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of providing a safe, functional and inspiring environment for our little ones. It was with this exact sentiment that our 3D Deco Lights were created.

The 3D Deco Lights are comforting, cordless, decorative night light that are loved by our tiny customers and big ones alike. The first of our popular designs is a regulation sized soccer ball that gives the playful appearance that it has been kicked into the wall. With a simple switch of the light, a soothing glow provides the necessary light for midnight changes, feedings, reassuring check-ins and, of course, to keep the ‘boogie monster’ at bay.

Tested by our most discerning critics (our partners and children), the 3D Deco/Night Lights have been an amazing addition to our nurseries, rec rooms and kids’ rooms. We look forward to hearing from you and how 3D Deco/Night Lights have made a difference in your family.”

Fireworks in December with Rolie Polie Guacamole

Rolie Polie Guacamole probably made their own fireworks in concert this year on Independence Day! Wow, these guys are a hoot! This CD, full of the classics and recorded live, takes on its own quirky twists with Frank and Andrew. They sing fast and slow. They get loud, they whisper. They even growl like bears. You name it, they do it.

Our favorites are Row Your Boat and Upside Down. My daughter just started flipping upside down on the monkey bars at the playground. She thinks it’s pretty cool. She’s happy that Rolie Polie Guacamole thinks it’s cool too.

Thank you to Waldmania PR for our complimentary copy in exchange for this review. And thank you to Elizabeth Waldman for her patience while I took a break from doing reviews to publish my book. It’s nice to be back!

BROOKLYN, NY — Holy Guacamole!  Brooklyn’s award-winning titans of kindie music are back, bringing a taste of July to this Christmas!  Rolie Polie Guacamole is set to warm up the season for families everywhere with the December 23 release of their sixth studio album, Live on the Fourth of July.

Winner of the prestigious Parents’ Choice® and NAPPA Awards, Rolie Polie Guacamole has, through the years, developed a smart musical style that dresses up original tunes and classic covers with vibrant harmonies and deft instrumental layers that sparkle with a kid-and-parent-friendlhy vibe.

In addition to bringing their rocking, upbeat, high-energy shows to music festivals and performing arts centers, Frank Gallo and Andrew Tuzhilin take special joy in the informality and “up close and personal” feel of the numerous sing-along preschool and library shows they perform that have a focus on familiar children’s songs.

On July 4, 2016, responding to ongoing requests from families for a recording of Rolie Polie Guacamole sing-along favorites, Frank Gallo and Andrew Tuzhilin headed to Rutherford, New Jersey to make a live acoustic album with longtime friend, engineer/producer Max Caselnova.  Celebrating an unforgettable Fourth of July, they laid down fourteen classic children’s songs that revel in a true-to-life setting with very few overdubs or added tracks.  The result:  Live on the Fourth of July!

Live on the Fourth of July speaks to younger Rolie Polie Guacamole fans with sing-along gems like “Itsy Bitsy Spider,” “Mr. Sun,” and “Muffin Man/Pizza Man,” while offering older kids some of the band’s signature cover songs, such as “Fire Truck,” “Subway Train,” and “This Little Light of Mine.”

Enthuses Frank Gallo, “After years of being urged by our fans to record our sing-along set, I’m so glad we finally took the time to do it!  It was a blast to spend last Fourth of July going back to our acoustic duo roots and working with our good friend Max!  We hope to bring some of that summertime warmth to the colder months of the year with Live on the Fourth of July.”

Rolie Polie Guacamole lays claim to being one of the hardest working bands in kids’ music, and that just might be true.  They’ve released five albums and played well over 1,500 shows nationwide since hitting the boards with their first performance in 2007, receiving top picks from Boston.com, Time Out NY Kids, and Time Out Chicago.

To herald the release of Live on the Fourth of July, Rolie PolieGuacamole has launched an animated sing-along video series on YouTube, kicking off with “Mr. Sun,” illustrated by Alexandra Narvaez and animated by Teddy Gage, HERE.

Previous Rolie Polie Guacamole releases include Chips and Salsa (2015, Parents’ Choice® Recommended Award), Triathlon (2014, Parents’ Choice® Fun Stuff Award), Houses of The Moly (2012, Parents’ Choice® Silver Honor Award, NAPPA Honors Award), Time For Hummus (2010), and Rolie Polie Guacamole (2008).

Live on the Fourth of July will be available on the Rolie PolieGuacamole website and iTunes.  Pre-orders may be placed now at both sites.

Essential Oils: Essential for Yoga

Essential Oils: Essential for Yoga…

So happy to have my new lavender and tea tree oils from New York Biology for use in my yoga class. I either waft the aroma through the room in a large class or use them for a gentle press or massage during Savasana. These oils are pure, concentrated, and so very soothing. The dropper that comes with both oils is much better than the tops I’ve used on other brands. It lets me better control the amount I dispense.

I also use it in my daughter’s bath water at night, as a perfume for me, and any time I need to feel more relaxed, calm, and centered.

Thank you to New York Biology for my free oils in exchange for this review.

What daily habit would you like to introduce to your life?

Yoga/Meditation. At this point, I only do it 2-3 times per week, if I’m lucky.

What one mini-little-adventure would you like to have in the coming week?

A trip to Starbucks. I really deserve it.

Make a list of things or events that changed your life: It could be as simple as a book or meeting a certain person?

1.) Reading the book and watching the video The Secret.

2.) Starting the practice of yoga in 2004.

3.) Having a child in 2012.

4.) Finally treating my anxiety and depression in 2001 after suffering with it for 14 years.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for my husband who took over while I was sick. I am looking forward to Gappy arriving from Chicago tomorrow.

Many Feelings, One Face

Many feelings, one face, in my four year old darling. Sometimes I can catch them candidly, but in this instance, she put on a little show. There’s no doubt that I have influenced her with my own wacky expressions. And my father did it to me. We are an expressive bunch and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Love that face.

From The Daily Post:

“This week at Discover, I chatted with illustrator Mica Angela Hendricks, who blogs at Busy Mockingbird, and loved what she said about drawing faces. “The lines in your face tell stories,” she said. “I get to ‘know’ a person through these lines, which is so fun for me.”

Mica likes to draw strange, imperfect faces the most:

When you’re drawing the details of someone, you’re spending intimate time with them in a strange way. Not romantically, but as an artist, you find this wonderful appreciation for what most people consider their “imperfections” — the wrinkles and lines in their faces, the lines under their eyes.

For this week’s photo challenge, let Mica’s insights inspire you: share a photo of a face. It could be your own face; the face of a loved one, whose lines and creases you know well; or even a face out in the wild, where you least expect to see one.”
