Daily Post WPC: Life Imitates Art
This photo popped into my head immediately for this WPC. At first, she wanted to have nothing to do with this huge photo, but eventually she realized it wouldn’t jump out and grab her. I love how she attempts to stretch her limbs as long as the gorilla. She’s grown so much just since then. I bet she’s getting close now! We were at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens with one of her best friends, Max.
Two years ago today, I lost my dear friend, Harisa Kapetanovic. A stroke took her at a very young age. She was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known. She was from Bosnia and visited her home every summer with her husband and son. We used to joke about the way she pronounced words or couldn’t quite think of the appropriate English word sometimes. She was kind, fun, smart, and compassionate.
About a week before she died, I called her anxiously wondering if she could help me with a work problem and she answered the phone saying, “Hello friend.” I will never forget how my anxiety faded and I just laughed. Despite the language barrier, she always had a way with words.
You are missed every day, Harisa. I know you are making many angel friends.

I just love a good find.
My friend showed my daughter and me Bird Island Park today. It is tucked back behind the library and I never knew it was there. We had a lovely, yet windy, picnic. We greeted the turtles and the fish. We followed the winding boardwalk to the gorgeous mosaic outdoor arena. And back inside the library, we were fascinated by the intricate details of a huge doll house!
It is truly the simple things in life that create joy. Today was a joyous day!
